Why should I tithe at all?
One of the hardest thing to do is to give up a portion of our earnings, especially in the poor economy. However, in Proverbs 3:9, God asks just that from us.
He asks for the first part of our earnings because He knows that we live in a world that revolves around money - our social status, our ability to provide for ourselves and our family and even our ranking at work is all based on money. It is one of the biggest strongholds in our lives and it's only when we learn to give it freely and with joy that we experience freedom from that stronghold.
Here at Grace, we believe that we need to give God 1st place in every aspect of our lives - including our finances. Through tithing, we are giving the first part of our income back to God in an act of obedience and worship - He has blessed us with our paychecks (no matter the size) and we need to bring Him glory in that blessing. When we tithe we show God our obedience, our trust in His provisions and that we're self-controlled.
The money that Grace collects through tities and offerings is used to keep the church running - operational costs, bills, ministry budgets are all paid for with your tithes and offerings. However, we firmly believe that God will provide for the church no matter what and we only want you to tithe if you are being told to by God himself and if you are able to give joyously.
Methods of Giving:
1) Cash and Checks:
Cash, checks and money orders may be:
- Dropped in the offering during Sunday service.
- Dropped by the office (2033 West South 1st St, Johnstown - Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm)
- Mailed to Grace Community Church, P.O. Box 818, Johnstown, CO 80534.
If you are giving using a check, be sure to put the breakdown of where the funds are to go - tithes, building, Bible study, etc - on the Memo line.
If you are giving with cash, please place it in an envelope (these are available at the greeting tables on Sundays and at the church office) with your name and a breakdown of where you would like the funds to go.
2) E-Tithing:
What is E-Tithing?
E-Tithing is an online way of submitting your tithes and offerings. We have set up an account through PayPal that allows you a safe and secure venue for online giving.
Will this be added to my yearly giving total?
Yes! Whether you give online, with a check or with cash, we keep track of what you've given. At the end of the year, you will receive a statement of your giving total to use when doing your taxes.
What happened to the "Donate" button?
Previously, we were being charged 2.2% + $0.30 for every tithe that was submitted via the "Donate" button. However, by having you log into PayPal and sending money from there we will recieve all of your tithe. You do have to create a PayPal account in order to use this method of giving now. If you are not comfortable with doing so, you may contact Cathy W. Smith at the office and set up an automatic pull from your checking account.
Does Grace receive 100% of my E-Tithe?
With our new method of giving with PayPal, yes! Grace now receives 100% of your tithe no matter how you submit it. Biblically, we do not believe in the use of credit cards because essencially you are spending money that you don't have. However, we understand that this is the only way that some have to give. We prefer that you give using your checking account or with cash, but if your heart is to give and cards are the only way that you have to do so, we will accept it.
How do I use it?
It's super simple.
1) Click here to go to the PayPal site. Log into your account (if you don't have one, click on the "sign up" link below the log in boxes and follow the instructions to create a new account. Be sure to have your bank account or credit card information ready.)
2) Once you are logged in, click on the blue "Send Money" tab at the top of the page.
- In the "To" box, type in admin@graceconnect.com
- Enter the total amount that you wish to give (you will have a chance to specify where the money will go in the next step.)
- Select the "Personal" tab and select the "Gift" option.
- Click "Continue"
3) Now you have a chance to review your transaction. If everything looks correct, scroll to the bottom of the page where it says "Email to recipient (optional)" This is where you can type in specific instructions for your donation (tithe, offering, bible study, etc) Once you've done that, you can click the "Send Money" button and you're done! You will recieve an e-mail recipt of your tithe within a few minutes.
