From time to time, God calls men to serve the church in a pastoral capacity.  Pastor Bob and Pastor Dave will be submitting these three individuals for affirmation to this calling at our 2021 Fellowship Meeting on Sunday, January 24th.
As our constitution requires, upon affirmation, these men will be licensed as Pastors/Elders for one year.  After they have served in that compacity for one year, they will be considered by the church for ordination, which is a lifetime appointment to serve as Pastors/Elders at Grace Community Church.
At Grace, our pastors are elders and our elders are pastors.  They are the spiritual leaders of the church and as such, must be qualified.  Pastor Bob and Pastor Dave believe that each of these three men meet the qualifications set forth in scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-13 & Titus 1:6-9)
We ask that if Grace Community Church is your home church, you prayerfully consider their selection.  Below you can read a brief bio about each man.  We also encourage you to take any opportunity you can to get to know them better before our January 24th meeting.
We also ask that you share with us not only affirmations of how God has used these men in your own personal lives, but also any Biblical reason that their presentation to the church should be reconsidered should you feel there are any.  What you share is only seen by Pastor Bob and Pastor Dave and will not be accepted if done anonymously.

Hello! You are always welcome to join us here at Grace as we all follow Jesus together.

My wife Jolene and I were married in 2003; we have a daughter Skylar and a son Luke.

I began to follow Jesus after taking a class at CSU which included reading the Bible. I was amazed at God’s love and the forgiveness He had for me. In October of 1994, God saved me and changed me from my self-centered life without God to a new and wonderful life of following Jesus and living for His glory and purposes.

In 1998 I started attending Grace Community Church and it has been a great adventure to follow Jesus with other people who are doing the same. Being part of the Grace family has been a wonderful blessing.

I love to communicate God’s Word in a way that others can understand it and apply it to their lives and then go share it with others. I desire to help people see the beauty of the Gospel and make a daily decision to follow Jesus all day, every day.

God has changed me from a person who always wanted what was best from me, to someone who wants to love other people and see them mature in there walk with Jesus and accomplish all God has planned for them. I give my life to serve others, share the Gospel with our community and teach others to obey the Lord. I love God’s Word and want others to know and love God’s Word as well. My heart is to live out this life for God’s glory.

Have a great day following Jesus!

I grew up in San Angelo, Texas with two older brothers and one younger brother. Even at a young age our parents attended church and like most parents, brought us along. At about age twelve, I accepted Christ as my Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas.

After returning from Viet Nam in 1970, I was released from the Army. I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado since I had been stationed there before Viet Nam and had several friends still in the area. I started work with an engineering firm. I met Julie two years later and the rest is history. We have two children and seven grandchildren.

We have been at Grace Community Church since about 2010. Since being at GCC, I have been amazed at how God’s Love has moved His people to help others and love others. Only God moves people in this way.

I feel privileged that He has allowed me to be a part of it, such as helping others move, Fun in the Sun, Thanksgiving Baskets, Shoe Boxes for Christmas, 72, VBS, and many, many more outreaches. Helping His people grow with 101, 201, 301, 401, Master Life, and more. God equips all of us in different ways. I will serve Him wherever He leads me.

It is God who works in you, to will and to act according to His good purpose.
-Philippians 2:13

My name is Saul Herrera.  I’m married to Kathryn Herrera and we have 2 sons (33 and 31) and 5 grandkids including Lyndzy, who is more of a daughter to us since we have raised her since she was born.

I grew up in Johnstown, and currently work for the Town of Johnstown in their collections and distribution department.  I accepted Christ as my savior when I was 17, but I did not start following until I was 37 years old. During a time when my wife and I were struggling with our kids, God spoke to me and told me that I was not alone and that He would never leave me nor forsake me.  The following Sunday I attended Grace Community Church with my wife, who had been attending for two years prior, and have been a member for the past 17 years.

As a member of Grace, God is currently using me in Children’s Ministry serving as the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, helping in Youth Group on Wednesdays, and serving alongside others in various ministries and events.

Over the years God has continuously been growing my faith through bible studies like MasterLife, both taking and leading, through the Next Step classes – 101 through 401, and through numerous trainings like SALT, and the latest Biblical Eldership. But the greatest growth that God has inspired in me has been through His people here at Grace.  Over the years God’s people have taught me to trust God in all things, to put Him first always, and to put others before myself.

All that said, I don’t believe God is done with me yet and will continue to teach me and grow me.
