After returning from Viet Nam in 1970, I was released from the Army. I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado since I had been stationed there before Viet Nam and had several friends still in the area. I started work with an engineering firm. I met Julie two years later and the rest is history. We have two children and seven grandchildren.

My name is Saul Herrera. I’m married to Kathryn Herrera and we have 2 sons (33 and 31) and 5 grandkids including Lyndzy, who is more of a daughter to us since we have raised her since she was born.
I grew up in Johnstown, and currently work for the Town of Johnstown in their collections and distribution department. I accepted Christ as my savior when I was 17, but I did not start following until I was 37 years old. During a time when my wife and I were struggling with our kids, God spoke to me and told me that I was not alone and that He would never leave me nor forsake me. The following Sunday I attended Grace Community Church with my wife, who had been attending for two years prior, and have been a member for the past 17 years.
As a member of Grace, God is currently using me in Children’s Ministry serving as the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, helping in Youth Group on Wednesdays, and serving alongside others in various ministries and events.
Over the years God has continuously been growing my faith through bible studies like MasterLife, both taking and leading, through the Next Step classes – 101 through 401, and through numerous trainings like SALT, and the latest Biblical Eldership. But the greatest growth that God has inspired in me has been through His people here at Grace. Over the years God’s people have taught me to trust God in all things, to put Him first always, and to put others before myself.
All that said, I don’t believe God is done with me yet and will continue to teach me and grow me.
